But since I am cooking a lot more, I have found that my cooking tools are subpar. When we registered before our wedding I didn't know what to register for and didn't care much. So our pots/pans that we've had for the past 8 years were probably the cheapest set at Target the day I had that registry gun in my hand. Needless to say, I have slowly started to filter out the old stuff for some upgrades. But I am now forming a wish list of kitchen items I want, and since my post partum brain is useless for remembering things, I actually started writing the stuff down as it occurs to me. Too bad I didn't do this before Christmas, but a cast iron skillet is an ok Valentines gift, right?
In other cooking news, I had the youth girls from my church over to my house last night so one of them could teach the rest of us how to make red velvet cupcakes with the most delish cream cheese frosting I've ever tasted. The key was obviously lots of red food dye but the result was divine. Don't know what it is about a blood red cupcake that is so much better than other cupcakes, haha.
I am trying a new scrapbooking method for the year. It's called Project 365, you can buy the kit for it at creatingkeepsakes.com. It's not so much scrapbooking as it is taking a picture each day, if possible, and doing some journaling about the pictures you take. The concept is simple and really ideal for me right now. I love to scrapbook but I end up spending way too much time (not to mention MONEY!) on it and other things get neglected. This method should help keep me from doing that.
I want to document our life right now as much as I can in pictures and in journaling, and this allows me to do both and gives me an organized way to do it. I'm not taking a picture everyday but I'm trying to document bits and pieces of our life a week at a time. So far, I think I'm doing good. I will take the weekly pictures/journal cards and put it all together one month at a time.
Hopefully this works out for me. I really like the idea of just using basic scrapbooking tools/products and focusing on the images and the journaling.
